Nerdy, Sparkly & Gothy! Plus Size & Budget Friendly! Shoppable Links in Posts!
Welcome to NerdySparkleGoth.com!
With most events canceled this year, it has been difficult, but not impossible, to find events to attend this year for Halloween.
A lot of haunts have revised plans to make their once walk-thru haunts, drive-thru instead. Because of this, most of them have revised them to be family-friendly. One such event is Haunt0ween in Woodland Hills, CA.

A link to their site is here, so see if you can score some last-minute tickets. It is worth the price!

The experience is about 20 minutes or so, with some Halloween vignettes and a “neighborhood” with spooky (but not too spooky) characters and trick or treating. The candy is handed out by baskets and socially distant.

I had to take a picture of that cow, because he looks like the meanest cow in existence, and we could not stop giggling about it! We had an amazing time and hope you can take in an event or two this Halloween!
Then we took in an outside dinner, which was a nice change from being at home all the time. Beret from Kreepsville 666 and pentagram dress from Wish. My mask is from Spirit Halloween. Click on links to buy.

Have a safe and happy Halloween everyone!

Recently, I had the rare adventure out with my boyfriend, Bill, to Knotts’ Berry Farm for their Taste of Falloween Event.

Taste of Falloween is a food festival held at Knotts outdoors. All of the rides were closed, as were most of the shows. The main stage, however, had some bands and magicians. The event was set up with countless tables and chairs, so you could sample the food and socially distance. When you were walking around, masks were required. A temperature check was also done on entry to the park. So, long story short, we felt very safe to attend.

Unlike Knotts’ Scary Farm, which was canceled due to COVID, this event is all ages. Like Knotts’ Scary Farm, this event was costumes encouraged, with some of the usual restrictions.

The food was amazing, and we had a great time! It was so nice to get out and enjoy a Halloween event!
The Ghost Town Alive characters of Calico were about, but on balconies or appeared in upstairs windows to maintain social distancing. Camp Snoopy is open for trick or treating only, no rides were operating, but their were some Peanuts characters in their Halloween best to entertain us as well.

I wore my Haunted Mansion dress from Disney Dress shop. The cardigan, hat and shoes are from Amazon. Pins from Wish. Click on links to buy.
Until next time…

I know, I know. I was done with the Halloween dress posts, but then I saw on Amazon this cute dress from Rosegal and could get it quickly, so I pounced!

As usual with Rosegal, they run small, and this dress is no exception. However, the fit is good and the dress is cute and comfy!

Get your own here. My witch hat is also from Amazon. Belt is from Torrid. Click on the links to buy.

Until next time…

Our latest outfit of the day is to help you get ready for the spooky season.

This skirt from Torrid features the classic movie monsters of Universal Studios. I love how companies have been re-embracing the classics when it comes to Halloween. I grew up watching these movies on “Sci Fi Theatre” back in Arkansas in the olden times, and I absolutely love them.

The skirt is made from scuba, so it holds it shape nicely while being stretchy and comfy. The sweatshirt is from Target. I absolutely love the puffy sleeves on this shirt. It gives this very casual shirt a very fancy feel to it. Click on the links to buy.

Just as an fyi, Unique Vintage also has classic movie monster wear for this Halloween.

Our next outfit of the day, or outfits of the day, come from Rosegal.com.

Rosegal (and DressLily) have tons of inexpensive options for standard and plus sizes. It is a great place to shop for seasonal outfits, including these cute dresses I found.

First up is this hi-low celestial dress. The front is very short, so I would advise wearing leggings with it. I paired it with a cute vintage-inspired cardi from Amazon. Click on the links to buy.

Both sites run very, VERY small. So, please check the sizing with your body measurements and not what size you usually wear. Example is that both of these dresses I got in a 5xl. I usually wear a 2xl or 3xl, depending on the brand.

This next dress is so adorable, I will be wearing it almost daily until Halloween. The print is just so darn cute! Click on this link to buy. I also paired this one with the same cardi from Amazon, but in a pumpkin color. Belt is from Torrid.

In addition to the small sizing, a lot of the waistlines tend toward a more empire waist, just as an fyi. Both of these dresses fell on my natural waist, so that was also a pleasant surprise.
It takes a couple of weeks for orders to arrive, so I’d go ahead and get your shop on for Halloween now!

Our latest outfit of the day is my new Creature From the Black Lagoon from Unique Vintage. There is also a men’s button-down shirt version, but unfortunately Benji’s is on backorder so we can’t show it to you in this post.

The dress and shirt are made from a super soft stretch taffeta. The print on the fabric is super bright and really beautiful.

Taffeta holds its shape really well, so I actually did not even wear a petticoat with the dress in these photos. I wore it to Son of Monsterpalooza in Burbank, and the day was pretty warm, so I was grateful to leave the crinoline at home!

I also was lucky enough to pick up the classic monster handbag in the photos from Rock Rebel at Son of Monsterpalooza.

Lastly, a quick bonus look is this cute cat pinafore from Kreepsville 666.
