Our latest outfit of the day is my new Robin Hood Dress from The Brave Little Tailor on Etsy.
Disney’s “Robin Hood” is my favorite Disney movie of all time, so when I saw this dress, I absolutely had to have one!
I paired it with a white cropped tee to give the dress sleeves.
I love the fit and love that they are size inclusive.

I get a lot of compliments as well as comments on my clothes, which I love, but one comment that gives me pause is a comment such as, “I wish I had places to wear a dress that fancy.”
OK, so first of all, it is really hard to be truly overdressed somewhere. Obviously, wearing a prom dress to work or a tuxedo to the grocery store is pretty over-the-top, but what about that great dress you bought to wear to someone’s wedding and is now languishing in the back of your closet (I just love that I got to use “languishing”, #englishmajor)? Well, use some great basics to dress it down for everyday.
Perfect example is my Haunted Mansion dress. My lovely boyfriend bought it for me for Dapper Day, and then I stopped wearing it. I love it, but the top has some ruching on the bodice that is very prom-y, so I stopped wearing it. Then, time passed and it was our anniversary. I wanted to wear the dress he bought me out on our date, but I didn’t have time to change after work. So, challenge accepted!
OK, so first, I needed to dress down the bodice. I did this with a cotton crop tee from Amazon. Just enough of the pretty ruching shows through.
Next, here’s my Dapper Day look:
Obviously, I left off the petticoat, fascinator, pearls and gloves for a great everyday look.
Here are some more pictures of me wearing a Disney Dress Shop dress everyday. If you decide to take that dress out on the town, then add those dapper touches.
Honestly, dresses are instant outfits. You literally just throw them over your head, and you have a look. Now, more than ever, there are amazing choices for nerd bounding that are dress-and-go.
So, challenge yourself to take something that you originally visualized as super dapper or fancy and “dress it down” for everyday wear.

As I take Benji to register for the 8th grade today, in addition to coming to grips with the fact that I have an 8th grader, I thought that I would post some great items for back to school. Click on the links to buy.
Benji’s favorite band is Panic! At the Disco, so I found a new Panic! backpack from Hot Topic. The Loki backpack is also from Hot Topic by Loungefly. Finally, love this new Cap backpack! Also from Hot Topic.
Benji loves to rock a good woven button down! Here are a few I found:
The Lion King and Nightmare Before Christmas shirts are from Box Lunch. The Harry Potter prisoner shirt is from Hot Topic.
Her Universe just released a whole Harry Potter line that really knocked it out of the park! Most items are also available on Hot Topic’s and Torrid’s websites as well. The prisoner shirt above is also from this collection.
The hoodies are available for each house and…. WAND POCKET! Click here for shoes. Click here for hoodies.
Last, but certainly not least, are the dresses.
The Harry Potter dress is available at Her Universe and Hot Topic. Same for the Spiderman dress. The plaid dress is from Hot Topic as an online exclusive.
Happy Shopping and have a great new school year!

When you’re putting together an everyday cosplay or bound, one of the best and easiest-to-use tools in your easy reach is jewelry.
Jewelry falls under “The Exotic” category on your team build checklist. I’ve attached a team build here for you to print and use.
If you have a dress that is a color inspired by a character, then the jewelry you choose can be the perfect touch to complete your bound.
Below are a couple of examples of outfits that I wear on the regular that have a great jewelry component. I’ve also included shopping links for all the pieces.
My first outfit is my Avengers Engame everyday cosplay. I have a great Avengers dress that I like to wear along with this great bomber jacket, both from Torrid. Once you pair the outfit with a great Captain Marvel necklace and infinity gauntlet bracelet (from Hot Topic and Amazon, respectively), then you have a great complete look! Click on the links to shop.
My next look are two necklaces that you can use in a screen accurate cosplay, but bring them into an everyday outfit to turn it into a great Marvel bound.
Star Lord replica necklaces from Amazon.
Next up is my Han Solo bound. I paired a Han Solo wrap skirt with a vest to make a great gender-bend Han Solo bound, but a great finishing touch is this Millenium Falcon necklace from Amazon.
My last look is one of my favorite go-to outfits. I have this great Star Lord bound. The dress is from Amazon, as is the shrug. The jewelry is also from Amazon. Click on each link for the bracelet, the leather bracelet, the Star Lord mask necklace and cassette tape necklace.
Let us know in the comments how you use jewelry to add finishing touches to your everyday cosplays and bounds. We love to hear from you!

This year we had a short visit to SDCC because we had tickets to Hugh Jackman in San Diego earlier in the week.
Dress by Pin-Up Girl Clothing. Click on the link to buy. I’ll profile it in more detail for an outfit of the day at a later date.
Our first stop was for a traditional selfie:
Then a step and repeat pic:
Dress by Disney Dress Shop, which is no longer available, but you can find it on Ebay here. Game of Thrones shirt from Target. Shoes by Converse.
Afterwards, we took a trip to the Her Universe Fashion Show. This was the 6th annual fashion show, and boy it was amazing! Watch the video below:
Here what we wore to the show:
This dress is Her Universe for The Disney Dress Shop. Click on the link to buy. Shrug from Amazon and shoes by Converse.
The next day we hit the floor and I picked up some of the pieces I saw at the show, including the Loki dress below.
Dress is available at Her Universe. Click on the link to buy. Shrug is from Torrid ages and ages ago.
And I got this cool pic with a Cookie Monster replica…
During the Marvel panel in Hall H (which we weren’t willing to sleep on the sidewalk to wait for…), Marvel revealed some details on the Black Widow film and Jane Foster will be The Mighty Thor in the next Thor film!
Then we had to hit the road and bid SDCC good-bye for another year.
Until next time…

One of our summer adventures was last month at Funbox.
What the heck is Funbox, you might ask? Well, it is an interactive selfie art exhibit. The exhibit moves around the country, so please click on the link above to see when and if it is coming to your area.
We just had a fun afternoon running around and taking ALL the selfies. Enjoy!

Our latest outfit of the day is a great Spiderman dress by Her Universe. This dress sports a great comic book print all over, with red accents.
The dress is available in standard and plus sizes. I am wearing a standard 3xl.
I added a belt accent. Belt available at Target. Boots also available on Target. Click on the links to buy.
