A Trip to Harajuku Day in Little Tokyo LA!

The kiddo and I got to go to our first Harajuku Day in Little Tokyo LA last weekend and had a great time! There are tons of vendors with decora, Lolita and goth styles, as well as too many accessories to count!

Notes on Gender References: Let me start with clothes have no gender! However, sometimes I do need to make a gender reference in regards to a piece. I promise the only reason I say, "ladies' boots" or "men's pants" is to let you make note of what department I found them and for sizing. This tends to happen mostly with shoes. You'll be shopping on a site and the sizing listed will be men's for a pair of boots. I own several "men's" pieces in my closet because it does not matter. What does matter is that you guys get the size you need and not an unpleasant surprise when a piece arrives and the sizing is all wrong for your body. This site is for all humans, and I want you to feel welcome. If there is ever anything that I write that gives you pause, please let me know so I can fix it and do better.

Kim Henderson McAndrew is an author and blogger known for her bold, self-proclaimed nerdy style and ability to combine cosplay with everyday fashion. Recently, she has begun to integrate goth and kawaii pieces into her wardrobe. While a lover of the occasional screen-accurate cosplay, Kim used her unique style and love of certain fandoms to create every looks to honor superheroes ‘in plain sight’. As the blog’s popularity grew, so did the demand for a book. So, she decided to combine the articles her readers felt most useful, put them in one place into a workbook-type format and this year Kim published her first book, In Plain Sight: Using Everyday Cosplay to Express Your Inner Superhero (2020). In Plain Sight offers readers a step-by-step guide to getting started with Cosplay, the various types and styles of Cosplay, how to create everyday looks, and the world of Bounding. The book includes shopping guides, sources, convention pack lists, Con pack lists and more. As time passed, Kim's style grew to include more of goth styles she loves, as well as sparkly pink and kawaii clothes, so she changed her brand name to "NerdySparkleGoth.com".
