Our latest outfit of the day is the Aristocats pin-up dress by The Disney Dress Shop.
I love the style of this dress so much!
The color of the dress is my favorite part. I just love that the designer embraced the pink and ran with it. The detailing on the skirt is also so beautiful.
Like all Disney Dress Shop dresses, I love the fit! It is a very fancy looking dress, but as comfortable as a t-shirt. And…pockets! I also love that they added sleeves to this one. I hope they continue this trend with the new dresses.
I hope everyone had an amazing time over the holidays. We had a great time, and now we are looking forward to a new year of fashion! There are some great new things coming up this year that we need to get ready for. WonderCon, Spring Dapper Day and the opening of the Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure.
Until then, here’s a quick recap of my holiday trip to Disneyland (Benji had theatre and couldn’t make it. Just want you all to know I’m not a jerk that went to Disneyland without my kid!)
I wore my Disney Dress Shop dress and silver holo ears.
This dress is no longer available at shopdisney.com, but you can still get it on Amazon. Same goes for the ears.
I had a great time enjoying the holiday decor, not to mention the treats.
So, here is our first outfit of the day for the year. A year with tons of fashion adventures ahead. So, stay tuned…
InPlainSight.style’s latest group cosplay was for Fall Dapper Day at Disneyland. We went as Robin Hood and Little John.
In this post, we’ll break-down Benji’s Robin Hood dapper cosplay using the Team Build Checklist.
Here is a good reference photo to build upon.
Photo: Walt Disney Company
This photo has Robin wearing a yellow hat, however, in appearances in the parks and for most of the film, he is wearing a green hat. So, we went with a green hat.
The Leader and The Brick
Robin’s hat serves as both the Leader and the Brick because his ears are a part of that. His hat was important to show the character as Robin Hood, but also a dapper version of Robin.
We chose a newsboy cap from Amazon. Then we purchased a set of fox ears and tail from Spirit Halloween. I cut the ears off of the headband, cut holes in the hat and worked the ears through the holes. Then I secured the ears with hot glue.
The Exotic needs to be the outfit itself. What makes him Robin Hood and not just a fox wearing clothes. Now for the tunic. A tunic is not dapper, so we went with a button down and tie. Because Robin is an outlaw, we decided with a business tie, but left undone. The shirt and tie and both from Amazon.
The pants we went with brown as a substitute for the fox fur legs.
The Blaster
We opted to not do fox make-up because it is Dapper Day and not a full-on cosplay. WE did need one more item to finish the look. Because Robin is busy robbing, he needed a money bag to keep his treasure in. As luck would have it, I found a purse literally shaped like a money bag on Amazon.
Next up is my Little John look. Until then, happy shopping!
For my latest cosplay, I put together a look for Dapper Day of my favorite Captain America suit, the stealth suit.
The dress is pretty easy to put together. I found some iron-on transfer paper at a craft store. With that, a star-shaped cookie cutter and a straight edge, I was able to create the stealth dress.
When choosing your star, make sure you choose one that is good scale to your body. Then you will need three stripes on each side, again, keep an eye on the scale. The stripes end at the arms at a 90 degree angle, but are diagonally cut to fit close to the star. The lengths also vary, with two shorter stripes on the top and bottom and the longest in the middle.
We recently had a free afternoon, so we took our annual passes out for a spin and went to Disneyland.
The day was super duper hot, so I had to make a quick wardrobe change from what I had planned. I had planned on wearing my Red the Pirate dress from The Dress Shop, but I’ll have to take it out on the town, or land, later.
Instead, I wore my BB8 dress by Her Universe for Torrid.
This dress is perfect for going to parks for a day. I got tons of compliments on it, and even got hassled by Storm Troopers in Batuu.
Then we ran into some of our closest friends, and watched the Electrical Light Parade together.
It was a great day!
The dress is by Her Universe for Torrid. While it is not readily available, you can still find it online on Ebay. The cropped white tee is from Target and my trusty Chucks by Converse.
OK, so we got a reservation for Galaxy’s Edge coming up, and cannot be more excited!
Our first thoughts go to, “What to wear?”, naturally.
My closet shopping expedition was very fruitful, but unfortunately, none of my Star Wars pieces are available any more. So, I took on the challenge for you guys. Find a women’s and a men’s (size inclusive) Han Solo bound completely from Amazon on on Prime. That way you can get it quickly and free shipping! So, doing a little online shopping, here’s what I found. Click on each link to buy each item. Happy Shopping!
Let’s Get Building!
The Leader
The Leader for any Han Solo cosplay or bound are the blood-stripe pants.
The Scientist would be his boots. However, tall boots would get pretty hot and uncomfortable, not to mention terrible for theme park walking, so I found these sneakers and these walking boots.
I recently got to take part in my first ever Disneyland After Dark event, Heroes Assemble.
It was an amazing time! The event took place at Disney’s California Adventure park in Anaheim. All the heroes, ALL of them, were there for photo ops, which was just great. Star Lord and the Guardians had a DJ’d dance party going on. Ashley Eckstein from Her Universe was also there for a meet and greet. The park had special themed food and drinks, including infinity churros! I had a lovely boozy lemonade with red, white and blue stars sprinkled on top. Yummy!
I became a part of the collector’s collection…
BF and I got to meet Doctor Strange…
And I met Carol Danvers!!!!
Now, let’s break down the fashion, shall we!
I did a basic pin-up style Captain Marvel bound for the event. Here are the pieces:
